Burn baby burn!

Just a tip. Leaving a pan with oil in it on the heat too long is a bad thing. A very bad, and flaming thing. Putting it under the tap because you can't find the tea-towel to put over it, is even worse. =S

That said tonight's steak came up a treat! Pepper steak and salad for tea tonight. Pepper steak is easy enough. I just rub the steak with cracked black pepper and a chilli/garlic/salt mix I get from the supermarket. Yes it's cheating, no I don't care =). I cook it till it's done (ish - I like my meat to be red still).

Voila! That just leaves the salad. I was feeling lazy today so it's just iceberg lettuce and some of the baby spinach / rocket mix I have in the fridge and a dressing I had pre-prepared. From memory / taste it had apple cider vinegar, a little basalmic, some seeded mustard, extra virgin (mmm, tasty =p) olive oil, and a little honey.

Totally was craving steak tonight. I love to season my porterhouse with garlic, parsley, basil, sald and pepper, and then throw it on the grill. But, my absolute favorite is to put some olive oil in the pan, with anchovies------the anchovies will melt and not give it that "fishy taste"---promise! It provides this unbelievable taste that you'll love- even if you hate fish. Then add your garlic and parsley among other spices- like rosemary if you like, and sear both sides, and cook slowly after searing- depending on how "red" you like it.

Nothing beats a steak when it's read inside! More iron and so healthy for a woman! :) (Unless your cholesterol is through the roof of course!) heh....

Great tips!!!

Sounds like you cook like me... The smoke detector going off here is like ringing a dinner bell in other places... when The Debs hears the smoke alarm then she know I've finished cooking and its time to eat.

Anyone with the name "dykalicious" is A OK in my book. I'm a gay guy in the middle of nowhere too, great blog!

Deb - Man, I'm craving meat now as well. I will totally try the anchovy thing sometime =). I <3 anchovies.

Paula - I always forget stuff in the griller. It's gotten to the stage where I have to set the alarm on my phone so I don't burn stuff.

=) Just going to check out your blog now. I'm interested in seeing how other gay people living in the country find it.
